We ended up parking by the Palace of the Fine Arts. We actually have a jigsaw puzzle of this place that I have done countless times, but because the puzzle is a whimsical artistic rendition of it, I didn't actually realize that it's a real place! It just kept blowing my mind, walking around there and seeing it in person! All the little designs on the sides of the columns I've spent so much time fitting together in the form of puzzle pieces.... it was pretty surreal to see it towering over my head!
Tulip was the first one who pointed out that this place was the same as in our puzzle at home. She was quite proud of that bit of detective work...
Going up Lombard street.... in a stick shift.... It did occur to me that if this place ever got icy it would be the scariest place on earth.
The homes on Lombard are really quite lovely. I can't imagine how awful it would be to have a perpetual traffic jam on your street.
Street cars!!
Smell no evil, either.
Adding keyboards, cello, and horns to the band....
Dragon Gate, the entrance to Chinatown

Is this dragon fruit? It was pretty much the coolest-looking fruit/vegetable (??) I've ever seen!
Pier 39
We hopped a street car for one block just for the experience of hanging off the side
After we rode the streetcar WAAAY up the hill (one block) we had to go back down to the street we had been walking on before that. It was so steep that the girls had to hang on to each other so they wouldn't slide down. ;-)
